Title: Coaching Style Conversations: How using a coach-approach can support development
Date: Wednesday, 15th January 2025
Time: 8am (PT) / 11am (ET) / 4pm (UK)
Duration: 90 minutes
Developing a coaching-style of management can support more effective individual and team performance. However, it’s a very different approach when compared to a more directive style of management. It requires managers to utilize their listening skills, ask thought-provoking open questions, and to support their team members to discover the answers for themselves rather than just telling them what to do. This not only builds autonomy but also fosters greater engagement and problem-solving skills within teams.
In this session, we’ll share insights and strategies drawn from our extensive experience designing and delivering large-scale coaching programs using video-led content centered on the GROW model and targeted skills practice exercises that managers can develop the essential skills needed to adopt this transformative approach.
What you’ll learn:
- Coaching vs. Directive Management: Understand the fundamental differences and the benefits of empowering team members rather than directing them.
- Core Coaching Skills: Learn the importance of active listening, asking open-ended questions, and guiding team members toward self-discovery.
- Practical Frameworks: Explore the GROW model as a practical tool to structure coaching conversations and drive results.
- Learning in Action: See how video-led content and interactive skills practice can help managers transition into a coaching role effectively.
- Impact on Performance: Recognize how a coaching-style approach enhances problem-solving, autonomy, and team collaboration.
As always with our work, this is an interactive workshop with discussion amongst participants is encouraged and key. If you are interested in running the session for more people in your organisation, please do get in touch.
