Project & Design Manager – US

The Role 

We are seeking a proactive, passionate and experienced Project & Design Manager to join our US team to lead on our award-winning experiential learning & development programs. The successful applicant will act as a key member of various global Project Teams, working in collaboration with the Client Relationship Director and Project & Design Partner, as well as the Operations Coordinator. Aim of the Role: 

  • Responsible for the overall management of client programs, working in collaboration with Client Relationship Directors (CRDs), other Project & Design Managers (PDMs), Project & Design Partners (PDPs) and the Operations Coordinator.    
  • To work in collaboration with Client Relationship Directors and Marketing & Business Development to project Steps brand and win and develop new business. 
  • Collaborate with the PDM team and Resource Planning Director in maintaining working processes and standards, managing workflows and resources and communicating any concerns. 


Assignment-Specific Duties and Responsibilities: 


1.The PDM takes the lead role in overall project management of the agreed services to clients. 

This may typically include: 

  • Meetings with clients. 
  • Produce a plan and timeline for all activities. 
  • Agree objectives with the CRD and team members. 
  • Agree plans with the client and ensure all deadlines and objectives are met. 
  • Manage relationships and communications with all key stakeholders. 
  • Lead end of assignment review and ensure applicable performance reviews occur. 
  • Throughout the assignment, identify further client needs and opportunities. 
  • Shares learnings from the job within Steps. 
  • Produces a summary or Case Study by agreement with B&DM. 


2.The PDM manages and contributes to the detailed elements of the project.  

This may typically include: 

  • Analysis/research. 
  • Developing solutions/design. 
  • Creation of materials, media etc. 
  • Briefing/rehearsal. 
  • Piloting. 
  • Delivery of learning change/learning interventions. 
  • Review/amending. 
  • Evaluation and next steps. 


3.The PDM manages all commercial and financial aspects of the contract in line with an agreed budget. 

This may typically include: 

  • Managing job within budget. 
  • Updates Access Planit on time. 
  • Working with Finance (and Project teams) to provide all necessary info and take day-to-day decisions. 
  • Produces summary of job GP if required or other financial analysis. 


Other information:  

  • We are a ‘work from anywhere’ company.  However, any member of the Steps team will on occasions be required to travel to support client work on-site.  
  • Ideal candidates are located and must be authorized to work in the USA.  
  • 40-hour work week, including one-hour paid lunch break.  
  • Flexible working hours.  
  • 20 days paid vacation, increasing by 1 day per year of service, up to 25 days.  
  • 11 days of paid holiday per annum (Federal holidays). 
  • Enhanced maternity and paternity pay.    
  • Sabbaticals earnt after 7 years tenure. 
  • Regular team get-togethers with US and Global teams.  
  • Qualified Small Employer Health Reimbursement Arrangement scheme. 
  • Salary: $58,000 per annum dependent on experience.
