What Is Drama Based Leadership Communication Based On?

Drama-based leadership communication is a distinct approach to improving communication skills within the workplace. At its foundation, it is founded upon the concept that interactive, engaging, and relevant learning is more effective. This approach employs drama techniques to help leaders develop their communication abilities and achieve a deeper comprehension of how to communicate effectively with their teams.

The drama-based leadership communication approach is centred around the idea that leaders who communicate effectively are better equipped to build trust, inspire their team, and create a collaborative work environment. This method urges leaders to consider their communication style and become more aware of how they communicate with their team members.

Through interactive role-play, improvisation, and other techniques, leaders can practice and refine their communication skills in a safe and supportive environment. By integrating drama into leadership communication training, leaders attain a profound understanding of the potential of effective communication and learn how to leverage it to drive success within their organisation.

How Drama Based Leadership Communication Can Be Used

To be an effective leader, you must understand that not everyone is the same, and it’s crucial to communicate in a way that resonates with different personality types. For example, an introvert will react differently than an extrovert. Adapting your communication style to fit your team’s individual needs is key to being an inclusive and successful leader.

Drama-based leadership communication training is a unique process where participants observe various toxic scenarios acted out in front of them. By experiencing these scenarios, rather than just hearing about them, participants are more likely to accept the truth and begin the change process.

Throughout the training, participants will be encouraged to recognise negative traits and identify those same traits within their own behaviour. They’ll then learn skills to develop positive behaviour. Our team is composed of behavioural experts, actors, and other skilled professionals who guide participants through this process, helping them develop their leadership abilities.

At Steps, we believe that drama-based leadership communication is a powerful tool for creating positive behaviour change in the workplace. Our approach involves interactive techniques that engage and transform participants, leading to effective and long-lasting change.

These learned skills can be actively applied throughout the workplace in various settings, greatly improving interactions and boosting morale. Let us help you enhance your leadership skills and foster a more positive and collaborative work environment.

What Skills Are Needed for Drama Based Leadership Communication?

Effective leadership requires a combination of several skills, and drama-based leadership communication training can help develop these skills. Participants will have the opportunity to work on the following:

  • Emotional Intelligence
  • Active Listening
  • Adaptability
  • Problem Solving
  • Public Speaking
  • Conflict Resolution
  • Empathy

Leaders must have the ability to recognise and understand their emotions and those of their team members. This a crucial skill that enables leaders to listen and understand the needs and concerns of their team. Leaders must be able to adapt to different situations and adjust their communication styles accordingly.

Furthermore, leaders must possess strong problem-solving skills to address any challenges that arise in the workplace. They need to be able to present information effectively and speak confidently in front of their team. And they must have the skills to manage and resolve conflicts that arise within the team. Lastly, a crucial skill that enables leaders to put themselves in their team members’ shoes and understand their perspectives is empathy.

Drama-based leadership communication training helps participants develop these skills through direct observation, practice, and feedback from experts. This approach enables leaders to learn in a safe and controlled environment, where they can experiment and make mistakes without fear of negative consequences. By developing these skills, leaders can become more effective, inclusive, and diverse in their approach to leadership, resulting in a more harmonious and productive workplace.

Check Out Our Steps to Change Program

Steps to Change is a process that we use to bring about real and long-term change in organisations. The process involves four stages, including See It, Own It, Change It, and Live It. During the See It stage, we use actors or bespoke videos to help delegates recognise the current culture as it is. This stage allows them to understand the need for change.

In the Own It stage, we use techniques to help individuals believe in the value or necessity of the change. The Change It stage involves developing new skills and behaviours through bespoke role play, coaching, high-impact learning activities, and simulations. Finally, the Live It stage is where the emphasis is on sustaining the momentum of the change and making it part of the organisation’s culture.
