Steps working with Talkback Thames for Business Action on Homelessness

Steps is working with our client Talkback Thames* and Business In The Community's initiative Business Action on Homelessness (BAOH) to create an interactive evening skills-building and networking event. The event, sponsored by Talkback Thames, is designed to equip homeless people, or those at risk of homelessness, with the confidence and skills to re-enter the job market.

Talkback Thames and BAOH were looking for a provider who could create a ‘safe' environment, focusing particularly on encouraging participation and maximising engagement. Steps was invited to be involved and we are now working closely with our programme partners to create an engaging seminar that will support and develop the skills and confidence levels of attendees.

At the evening event, Steps actor-facilitators will bring to life some of the behaviours, attitudes and challenges facing individuals as they make the transition back into the workplace. The session will centre around a individual's experiences of going to an interview and fielding difficult or awkward questions. The scenarios will draw out lessons on being confident in these situations and provide practical tips on how to handle challenges that might arise.

The Steps team are delighted to be able to contribute to such an important initiative which furthers our commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility.
